POSITIONING YOURSELF IN SAP
MARKET
One of the most important secrets I learnt very early on in my sap
career was the salary offered had very little to do with the knowledge a
consultant possessed. I was a SAP FICO Consultant and yet there were consultants
who knew only 10% of what I know and yet drew two times my salary. What were
they doing that I was not aware of? I discovered that positioning is the key in
SAP.
What the heck is positioning you might wonder?
I like to keep things simple. Positioning is what others think about you.
There are many ways to expand your SAP portfolio. So for example if
you are a FICO consultant expand it to SD and MM. If you are a MM
consultant go for FICO and SD . So you get the idea. You might not even do anything
in the other module but you should make the world aware that you are a multi
diverse SAP consultant and that will jack up your rates like anything. Most
don’t understand that. You will when you see the results.
Once you mention this in your CV you will notice a remarkable jump
in your interview calls and the way people look at you. It is all about
positioning yourself in the SAP market.
